Initial Certification:  First time certification programs for EMR and EMT trainees.

Traditional EMT Course

Code One’s 180 hour Traditional EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) program prepares participants to respond to medical emergencies in a 13 week format.  Our course curriculum involves interactive lectures, hands-on practical training, and 20 hours of clinical observation time in a variety of settings including onboard ambulances and in hospital emergency departments. A blend of hands-on practice and interactive lectures prepare Code One EMT students for certification testing and to work as an EMS provider.

Accelerated EMT Course

Code One’s 180 hour Accelerated EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) program prepares participants to respond to medical emergencies in just 5 weeks.  Our course curriculum involves interactive lectures, hands-on practical training, and 20 hours of clinical observation time in a variety of settings including onboard ambulances and in hospital emergency departments. A blend of hands-on practice and interactive lectures prepare Code One EMT students for certification testing and to work as an EMS provider.

EMT for Healthcare Providers

Code One’s 42 hour Emergency Medical Technician for Healthcare Providers course transitions clinical professionals into the role of a emergency responders. This course is ideal for healthcare practitioners that desire cross-training for emergency situations in their hospital care unit, school, or health clinic.

EMR Course

Code One’s 60 hour Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program prepares participants to respond to medical emergencies. EMRs respond to emergency 911 calls, assess ill and injured individuals, and administer life saving interventions.  This exciting and demanding course covers basic human anatomy and physiology and treatment of sick and injured individuals.

Refresher Courses:  Intended to review and update responders on current information for certification renewal.

NREMT EMT Refresher

This course provides the NREMT NCCP model topics and hours required to renew EMT certification with the National Registry of EMTs.  This program consists of online distributive and virtual live classroom content designed to meet all NREMT educational requirements for renewal.

NREMT Paramedic Refresher

This course provides the NREMT NCCP model topics and hours required to renew paramedic certification with the National Registry of EMTs.  This program consists of online distributive and virtual live classroom content designed to meet all NREMT educational requirements for renewal.

Connecticut EMT Refresher

This program updates Connecticut certified Emergency Medical Responders to current educational objectives.  The EMT Refresher is 30 hours in length offered as an instructor-led  classroom training or as a hybrid online course with an instructor-led skills day.  This course includes modules on CPR/BLS, patient assessment, medical emergencies, and traumatic injuries.  Participants complete skill testing in class and a written exam conducted by CT OEMS.

Connecticut EMR Refresher

This program updates Connecticut certified Emergency Medical Responders to current educational objectives.  The EMR Refresher is 30 hours in length and includes modules on CPR/BLS, patient assessment, medical emergencies, and traumatic injuries.  Participants complete skill testing in class and a written exam conducted by CT OEMS.

EMS Continuing Education:  Intended to provide ongoing learning for EMS providers.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid for Fire/EMS teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hour training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)

TECC focuses on the medicine during these phases of care and provides guidelines for managing trauma in the civilian tactical or hazardous environment. While TECC has a tactical slant, it takes an all-hazards approach to providing care outside the normal operating conditions of most EMS agencies, such as responding to a mass casualty or active shooter event.

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading Continuing Education program for prehospital emergency trauma care, per the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). The course was created in recognition of the real need in EMS education for additional training in the handling of trauma patients.

PER 211: Medical Management of CBRNE Incidents

Medical Management of CBRNE Incidents equips emergency care providers with the skills needed to detect, triage, treat, and transport victims of CBRNE incidents. Training consists of lectures, facilitated discussions, and small group simulations to promote critical thinking in clinical situations involving CBRNE exposure.

This course is provided by the Texas A&M University Extension Service in conjunction with FEMA.

Pediatric Emergencies for Prehospital Providers

PEPP represents a complete source of prehospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP is an exciting curriculum designed to teach prehospital professionals how to better assess and manage ill or injured children.

 

EMS Instructor:  Intended to develop and certify educators for EMS programs.

EMS Instructor

Code One’s Emergency Medical Services Instructor course introduces participants to the multiple intelligences of the adult learner. Participants will participate in interactive activities to identify the characteristics of effective instructors, integrate adult learning theories into program design, develop examination methods that are valid and reliable, and embrace teaching techniques that maximize student success.
