Intended Audience

This course is intended for individuals who have a duty to respond to a cardiac emergency because of job responsibilities. This course is also appropriate for members of the community who want to be prepared in the event of a cardiac arrest or serious life threatening injury.

 

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Course Description

The American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid course teaches participants to recognize and treat medical emergencies and serious injuries.

Course topics include:

  • Medical emergencies including allergic reactions, heart attacks, stroke, seizures, and diabetes
  • Injury management including bites and stings, bleeding control, and splinting
  • Environmental emergencies such as heat stroke and hypothermia

This course is specifically designed for those who have a duty to respond to an emergency because of job responsibilities or regulatory requirements. It is also appropriate for members of the community who want to be prepared in the event of a serious life threatening emergency.

Course Materials

First aid materials, a American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid Student Workbook, and two year certification are included in this course.

Course Fee

$90 - Includes first aid materials, student workbook, and two year American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid certification upon successful completion.

Examination

A skills examination is conducted as part of this course.  Students that do not successfully complete the skills test are remediated and allowed an additional attempt to test.

Certification

Successful completion of this course results in an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid certification which is valid for 2 years from the date of the course.
